Foods to Eliminate or Severely Reduce
This section tells you which foods to eliminate (or severely reduce) from your nutritional programme:
It is initially extremely difficult to eliminate these foods from a modern western diet. There is now however growing scientific evidence that these foods are at the root of many of the diseases of the modern age, diseases which up until the advent of the agricultural revolution some 10,000 years ago were unheard of.
Refined starches - flour, pasta, bread, breakfast cereals, crackers, biscuits, cake.
Traditional starches and grains - rice, potatoes, grains (you can eat barley and steel-cut oats).
Sugars - fizzy sugary drinks, processed fruit juices, sugar, chocolate, confectionaries.
Dangerous Fats - butter, margarine, lard, soybean spreads.
Cooking Oils - vegetable cooking oils (corn, sunflower).
Dairy - milk, cheese, especially highly processed cheeses.
You can however make an exception to not eating some of these foods immediately after a hard training session. See Glycemic Load and Training for more information.
