Tai Chi is a graceful movement practice that develops flexibility, strength and the energy (or chi) associated with health and wellbeing.  It was developed in 17th century China and can be used to rejuvenate the body and heal all manner of illnesses.  It is a low-impact and easily learned system that can nevertheless provide a challenging learning experience for any individual.

Why Train Tai Chi?

Tai Chi produces a high level of relaxation, balance and physical co-ordination through slow, deliberate and mindful practise.  It is this meditative approach to movement that perhaps produces Tai Chi’s greatest contribution to the modern age; it’s ability to counter stress at the physical, energetic and emotional levels.  Tai Chi can also heal various joint problems, especially back problems; it lowers blood pressure, improves joint mobility and posture, breathing, blood circulation and general organ functioning.

What Will You Learn?

The core form taught at the Allwell Centre is a short 12 movement set that can be completed in as little as 4 minutes or as long as 20 minutes.  This set is taught in our on-going Tai Chi classes.  The classes develop these core movements and introduce elements of more advanced Tai Chi practise over time.
